Forum: web Subject: Was there a rollback/purging? +redirect loop (archived sites no longer appearing)

1) I archived some sites recently. I checked back and they were successfully archived. I checked back today, and some remain while some redirect to the liveweb now.

Example-
this still works:
http://web.archive.org/web/20130925062023/http://cs1500.vk.me/u6407323/41626883/x_ad27aab2.jpg

...while this *was* successful but redirects to liveweb now:
http://web.archive.org/liveweb/http://skateparkoftampa.com/spot/productimages/colors/8_26839.jpg

Why has this happened?

2) I'm also getting "redirect loop" errors frequently from google chrome. I haven't had this issue before, and I've cleaned out my cookies but I'm still getting "redirect loop" from simply changing ONE url.

Is this an issue with chrome or archive?

Re: Issue 1):

Today (09/29/13), it seems that NEITHER of the 2 URL's you referenced are accessible.

I've encountered the same issue with archive.org as it relates to archived URL's I've previously been able to access - - but now no longer can. Perhaps server limitations have necessitated some degree of purging....

Re: Issue 2):

Same results as you're experiencing with Chrome, although in my case it's not limited to just the Chrome browser. It occurs with all of the browsers I use. So I can only conclude that it's an archive.org issue.

I've figured issue 1 out, this is the reason: http://faq.web.archive.org/can-i-get-just-one-page-archived/

That's what I get for not reading the FAQ beforehand.

Do you know how to manually upload these pages so the URL is in the wayback machine? I've been uploading pages but it's not working, and looking for instructions and found nada.

Waybacks sometimes disappearing (not just the webpage listed below).

On Feb 17 I waybacked http://www.cloudscapecomics.com/2011/06/11/30-days-project-day-8/ and the waybacked seemed successful.

Two days later, I decided to check on the archived page but archive.org Wayback said it had no archive for that webpage,
so I waybacked that Cloudscape webpage again (on Feb 19).

Same thing happened on Feb 21 (I wanted to check archived version, but Wayback claimed to not have archived that webpage)
so waybacked that webpage on Feb21.

Now (in 2014 March 23), that webpage has a three archives of that page (one for Feb17, one for Feb19 and latest one for Feb21).

I'm concerned that Wayback Machine didn't know that webpage had already been waybacked.
